Grab. Rides and food delivery across the cities and bigger islands. It shows the fare up front, which spares you the tuk-tuk haggling, and it runs on data.
LINE. Thailand's default messaging app. Hotels, dive shops, and tour operators often prefer it to email or calls, so you will want it live.
Maps. Google Maps covers Thai cities and the islands well, including ferry piers and the routes between beaches. It needs a connection throughout.
Booking on the go. Island ferries, day tours, and last-minute guesthouses are easiest to sort over data while you are already moving.

How to install your eSIM before you fly
- Buy the plan. The eSIM arrives by email, usually within a minute. Install it at home on Wi-Fi with the one-tap link or the QR code in the email. 8 plans start counting at install or purchase, and the tables mark them. Install those close to your flight.
- Name the line Thailand and keep it off until you land. Do not delete it after setup, because an eSIM installs only once.
- On arrival, turn the line on, choose it for mobile data and turn on data roaming for it. Turn off data roaming on your home line.
